Night Differential Calculator Philippines
Calculate estimated night shift differential based on your hourly rate and work shift.
This calculator provides an estimate based on the information entered and applicable Philippine night shift differential rules. Actual compensation may vary depending on employment classification, work schedule, company policies, applicable regulations, overtime, holiday pay, and other compensation rules.
How is night shift differential calculated?
- 1Determine the employee's shift.
- 2Determine the statutory night differential period (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
- 3Find the overlap between the two periods.
- 4Calculate the number of qualifying hours.
- 5Apply the statutory premium to the basic hourly rate.
- 6Calculate the additional night differential.
For example, if your hourly rate is ₱150 and 7 hours of your shift fall within the night period: ₱150 × 7 × 10% = ₱105.00 in additional night differential, on top of your regular pay for those hours.

Important information
What is night shift differential?
An additional premium — at least 10% of your hourly rate — for work performed between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, under Article 86 of the Labor Code.
What hours qualify?
Any hours actually worked within the 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM window qualify, whether that's your whole shift or just part of it.
Is night differential the same as overtime?
No. Overtime is about working beyond 8 hours a day; night differential is about working during a specific time window. A hidden clock, not a hidden hour count.
Can overtime and night differential happen together?
Yes — if your overtime hours fall within the night period, both premiums can apply to the same hour, and the applicable rules may require combined treatment. This calculator estimates night differential on your basic hourly rate only.
Does everyone receive night differential?
Generally, rank-and-file employees are covered. Managerial employees and certain other categories defined under the Labor Code are generally excluded — check with your employer or DOLE if you're unsure which applies to you.
Does this calculate take-home pay?
No. This estimates the night differential premium only — not your full take-home pay, which would also involve your regular pay, other premiums, and deductions.
Does this include SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, or tax?
No. This estimates the night differential premium only, before any statutory or company deductions.
